This attractive short walk can be found not far from Springwood railway station. Whilst the track was still quite rough in places, sections had been upgraded since our last visit.
The circular walk can be accessed from two spots on Bednal Rd, and also from Boland Ave, and follows Springwood and Birdwood Gully Creeks. There is also a side track further along Springwood Creek, which we didn't explore.

On a previous visit our walk leaders combined this walk with a look at the blue gums in Deanel Forest Reserve
Birdwood Gully has a Bushcare group
Terrific
ReplyDeleteLove the bush and love these photos, especially the bottom one. Really unusual.
ReplyDeleteVery Nice Walk - lots of lovely scenery and very diverse in a relatively short distance. When we did this walk Avatar had only been out for a while and the area represented by the bottom picture reminded us of the film of floating chunks of earth and rock. My 10 year jumped the gap, lucky mum wasn't there to see.
ReplyDeletenice little practice cave for would be climbers just off the bednal rd entrance as you head up the hill from the first creek cross, you will see the cave on the left, very nice formations and great place for picnic, chalk marks and hooks all there to show you the way :) wonderful fungi and orchids here too when the season is right. lyrebird lives just down near the second crossing if you get up early you will see him, gang gang cockies hang around the point where the track goes up the back of the cemetary towards fairview cresc
